National Organization for Men Against Sexism

in activism, feminism

I happened to stumble up on a site for a great-looking group called the National Organization for Men Against Sexism (NOMAS). NOMAS is a pro-feminist, pro-gay, anti-racist group of men that aims to enhance men’s lives by creating awareness of patriarchal structures and improving the lives of women.

Their site is filled to the brim with all kinds of information about feminism, gay rights, pornography and prostitution, ending men’s violence against women and several other areas. The site is apparently new (though the organization has been around for over 30 years), so some topics are still blank.

I thought that my male readers might be interested in checking them out, and that my female readers might enjoy, as I do, hearing about some kick-ass men who are actually on our side. Allies put a big smile on my face. I’ll be adding NOMAS to my sidebar list of organizations. For a more extensive set of pro-feminist men’s groups, check out this reference.

this warms the depths of my cold, dark, hysterical feminist heart. and it reminded me of another group i used to volunteer for in amherst – they’re actually on NOMAS’s links page – and i just sent them twenty bucks.

seriously, allies rule.
