Fuck The Whole System
Filed Under bigotry, courts, misogyny, race and racism, rape and sexual assault, violence against women and girls | Posted by Cara |
I know that I really can’t get away with four posts a day, but I can’t not post this. Via elle, phd, the black woman who was held captive, tortured and assaulted both physically and sexually by six white individuals has been arrested and arraigned.
What kind of horrible crime could this woman who has been through so much have possibly committed in order to deserve arrest at this point in time? Writing bad checks. She was put in jail and released on $8,000 bond– far more than the bad checks were worth.
This is the point at which I give up. I do not understand this world, this country or this system. I just know that none of them represent me. I do not understand this level of extreme and institutionalized racism and misogyny. I do not understand who could have possibly thought that this was okay. I do not understand the fact that our society is designed to re-victimize women over and over and fucking over again.
And though the victim (who has an unspecified learning disability) has supposedly given permission to have her name released, I also have to say fuck you to the journalists who think that it is okay to print her name time and time again, and to the asshole editors who think that it’s okay to publish her picture. How about some pictures of the fucking perpetrators, the real damn criminals here, the rapists, kidnappers and abusers?
Not a single fucking thing about this as right. Not a single fucking thing.

“Men, their rights, and nothing more; women, their rights, and nothing less.” — Susan B. Anthony

It’s so hard not to angry – really angry. I know.
Fuuuuucked UP. Period.
Has anyone started a fund for this woman?
Does anyone honestly believe we don’t live in a patriarchy? The guy who burned his wife with an iron was let off for less money. This story should be a lesson for anyone who thinks that feminism is past its prime and not needed!
My mouth is hanging open in disbelief and my fists are shaking with rage.
I second that: Fuck the whole system.
double victimization doesn’t even BEGIN to describe this… what in hell is wrong with our courts? i feel like this simply can’t be real. why have human beings been replaced with monsters in our judicial system? when things like this happen, vigilante justice just looks more and more appealing…
My first reaction: “This beggars belief”.
My second reaction: “It’s par for the course”.
Men will continue to use violence against women until they come up against something that deters them.
Currently, judicial systems are not providing any kind of deterrent.
That is exaclty right marielaem – there is no real deterrent. There are so few cases where the men actually get a relatively log sentence for the violence that they have done and since the burden of proof seems to rest squarely on the shoulders of the victims, then they know that they have a pretty good chance of getting off…sickening.
It’s sad that people don’t realize that the American “system” is all an illusion. I feel bad for this woman, but c’mon… she’s living in a fucked up country.
I don’t think that any country should be quite that fucked up. Nor should anyone expect it to be.
