Reading articles like this I can only be glad that, as a Canadian, our flawed system has at least allowed us to bridge some of the problems of women's reproductive rights and other sex/sexuality issues. Perhaps our version of parliamentary democracy has its benefits.

HOLD THEM TO THEIR PROMISES, THANK THEM, AND THEN DEMAND MORE!

That is just so dead on that I had to repeat it.

Good luck America. You are in our thoughts up here.

Great post, I couldn't agree more, but of course you knew that! We definitely need to hold these candidates to their promises and make sure that we have the rights we deserve.

It burns me up that legislatures actually pass informed consent laws that REQUIRE doctors to feed their patients UNTRUE information. why isn't the media taking politicians to task for this? Oh, right, b/c as you pointed out abortion, and repro rights are considered "special interest" and divisive interests at that. . .

You've never heard of trigger laws? They've really been in vogue lately, every since Roberts and Alito were nominated to the Supreme Court -- of course, in anticipation that they could overturn Roe. I don't have the numbers in front of me, but quite a few states have them or are working on them.

"trigger laws"? You're kidding?!

As for abortion being a "special interest" cause - you make a very good point. It is a cause that effects all women in the long run, i.e. half the population, so where is the "special part"?
