Isn’t feminism just the “crazy” belief that (gasp) the sexes are equal? By that definition, almost every man and woman I know are feminists, and I don’t really know that many ugly people. I guess that if Glenn Beck lives in a world where he thinks women should be bought, sold, and traded like freaking baseball cards, he is the deluded one. I just don’t understand why so many people only see that thin veil of lies that covers the truth.

Feminists are ugly, fat, manly, unmarried, childless, sexless, loud, and the implication is that anyone who has these traits should be deeply ashamed.

It’s so amusing to watch sexists sputter: You don’t care about my standards of beauty? You don’t care that I think you should be married and submissive? Well, then, you’re ugly! You’re loud! You’re unwed!

What part of “I don’t care about that” did they miss? *rolls eyes* They seem constitutionally unable to change their modes of thinking.

just leave the quote like this: “Hello! I’m not a sex expert . . .” and you’ll find it surprizingly satisfying. I think it’s the first time GB has admitted to not being an expert at, well, anything. Reframe: “Hello! I’m not a sex expert, in fact I am utterly incapable of ever pleasing a woman in bed. My wife only married me because she was horribly depressed and I begged her and tempted her with my vast riches. She only stays with me because I pay her, not because I am capable of satisfying her sexual needs. I come on the radio and on tv and talk and make with the machismo to make me feel more like a man since I’m incapable of doing anything ‘manly’ in any other sense, you know, sexually. And the point of all this is, um, progressive chicks are ugly.” Yeah, Glenn Beck sucks.

Mr. Beck is the ugly one. And a contender for Asshole of the Year.

I kind of just assumed that he was a lifetime nominee.

And I had absolutely no idea that he owned Clear Channel. Though now I’m even more happy that I never listen to the radio. It’s pretty depressing, though, to know that no matter how many letters one writes, etc., the only way we’re going to get him off the air is either for the company to collapse or for someone to buy him out. Both probably pretty unlikely.

Kate, I think that when outside of my little social circle, I surprise people just by being a feminist at all. If the looks on their faces are any indication.

I also have a relationship with a partner who didn’t have to trick me into it, who didn’t buy me, and who sees me as an equal. And I have no complaints about my sex life. If that makes me ugly, fine. But if that’s the best argument you’ve got, I’m pretty sure that you’re not the one coming out ahead.”

Amen Cara. It’s funny how much you notice peoples’ perceptions of what kind of women get married and what kind of women are feminists- and how incompatible people seem to think the two are-on a daily basis. I get this a lot in my every day life. I, myself, am one of those women that doesn’t fit the stereotypes of a feminist or a young, married mom. Although I’m not blonde with DD tits, on the rare day that my son’s at daycare while I have the day off (and I can brush my hair and dress myself in something other than sweat pants) I tend to get a lot of attention from the opposite sex. When people-both men and women- get to know me, they’re genuinely confounded. I see it on their faces… I’m an anomaly to them. I see their narrow perception of the world shattering as I explain to them that even though I’m a 22 year old married mother, I’m not a crazy Christian, I’m not some poor sap who had an “oops!” and married the dude because it’s the “right thing to do”, and my husband and I are staunch feminists and pro choice. On the surface, I seem to lead a life that’s the antithesis of everything I believe in. But the reality is, this is just how I decided to go with life and I’m very happy. I wonder what people like Glenn think of people like me? Sometimes it’s like the general population can’t believe that women like me exist.
