If anybody is interested, Bruce Schneir interviewed the head of the TSA on their security measures and basically shows that none of these so-called security measures work (http://www.schneier.com/blog/archives/2007/07/conversation_wi_4.html) That being said, every official involved in this matter should be fired immediately (including the female officer who just stood by and let this happen.)
