Good one! Thanks for sharing.
This reminds me of a project that I was involved with. A WOC student at an Ivy League college did a senior thesis, which involved interviewing (by phone) self-identified white feminist women about our whiteness, what it means to us, how society reacted to our whiteness, etc. What a way to flip the default of whiteness completely on its head, denormalize and decenter it. (She had posted her call for volunteers on Feministe or Feministing, don’t remember which.)
That was an important milestone in my process of confronting my racism and white privilege (which has only just begun).
I’d love to see gay / lesbian folk interview straight folk that way.
New York Begins to Alter Policy on Gay Marriage
Gov. David A. Paterson has directed all state agencies to begin to revise their policies and regulations to recognize same-sex marriages performed in other jurisdictions, like Massachusetts, California and Canada.
In a directive issued on May 14, the governor’s legal counsel, David Nocenti, instructed the agencies that gay couples married elsewhere “should be afforded the same recognition as any other legally performed union.”
Great news Brenna! Thanks.
This is just a post full of happy things!

i posted it on my personal journal in big, fat h1.
