"Oh, I'm not racist/sexist! How dare you!" Cuz heaven knows the accusation of racism/sexism is much worse than the realities of it. (I'm embarassed to admit I once disconnected a call at my call centre because the caller 'accused' me of being racist. I'd like to think I'd be better now. I felt attacked and responded that way rather than, you know, <i>listening to why the caller said that</i>. *sigh*) That is the long and the short of it, yes.

Sexism would entail critics saying that a woman couldn't do the job because she wasn't suited to it, as far as gender is concerned. However, what Clinton received was anything but sexism. It was outright misogyny - very personal attacks on her as a person because of her gender. (And I am not a Clinton supporter.) I would agree that sexism and misogyny are not the same thing and are not of the same caliber. I would also say that misogyny and racism are pretty much equal, in regards to the hate quotient. I also find it absolutely asinine that the definition of "misogyny" would change. Is the definition of "racism" going to change too??
