Phill Kline Loses Reelection Bid
Filed Under Republicans, abortion, anti-choice extremism, assholes, misogyny, paternalism, politics, reproductive justice, social conservatives, women’s health | Posted by Cara |

You know that asshole DA from Kansas, Phill Kline? When he was Attorney General of the state, he brought a lot of random bullshit charges against late-term abortion provider Dr. Tiller. Then, when he was booted out of office and became DA of Johnson County in Kansas, he used it as an opportunity to baselessly attack Planned Parenthood. In other words, he wasn’t an attorney so much as he was an anti-choice renegade who was unfortunately elected to office.
And Steve Howe, a former prosecutor in the county, used that argument to beat Kline’s ass in a primary race for his reelection. Howe is of course still a Republican, and he is anti-choice, but the fact is that he quite simply can’t be worse, and he did rightfully campaign against the kind of attacks that Kline is notorious for.
Anti-choicers are sad. After all, they spent over $100,000 to try to keep Kline in office. $100,000! For the reelection of the DA of a county in Kansas! And they lost!
Sorry, but it’s funny.
Buh-bye, Kline. With any luck, your career of impeding women’s right to health care is finally over. Please, let it be so.

“Men, their rights, and nothing more; women, their rights, and nothing less.” — Susan B. Anthony

God, this makes my day! Byeeeeeee Phil! and good riddance to bad rubbish!
When you call a decent person an “asshole,” you have just disqualified yourself from being objective.
It is amazing how abortion supporters are so mean-spirited.
Don’t rejoice yet. The fat lady hasn’t sung yet. Try to have a good day.
And please use that door, because it’s heavy and will hurt if it hits you in the ass on your way out.
Indeed I have Rick. Good job at finally mastering the point of an opinion-based blog!
Also, having looked at your blog which I have now de-linked, I have to say that it’s funny that I’m mean-spirited for calling an asshole an asshole, but you’re like some super woman-saving hero when you’d rather have a woman die or face lifelong medical problems than allow Dr. Tiller to provide her with an abortion. Interesting views on “nice” and “mean.” By that definition, I’ll take mean any day of the week.
Just as well she didn’t choose a decent person to insult then.
I had the opportunity to De-Kline and enjoyed every minute of it. glad to see my vote do some good
I really hope that Taliban Kline will now be permanently disbarred.
Cara and Sunless Nick:
Thanks for clarifying your position. You both hate Kline and now probably me, as I am pro-life. But Cara’s assumption that I would “rather have a woman die or face lifelong medical problems than allow Dr. Tiller to provide her with an abortion.” Not true. I do believe that in the rare occasion that a woman’s life would be in danger to deliver her baby, or that the baby would not be viable after delivery, the decision should be made by the woman and her personal doctor, but NOT by an abortion mill. It should be performed in a reputable hospital, where it would not be controversial. Nor would there be a question of the fact that millions were poured into the election of pro-abortion officials. Yes, you hate Kline, and me for defending him. Go ahead and hate if it makes your day. This hate carries through your marriages and in your workplaces. But then, I think you know better, don’t you?
Okay THAT is made of win. I hate my husband because I think that Rick is a jackass.
No, seriously, I’ve had a really shitty day but that made me laugh my ass off!
Rick, I’d love if abortions were regularly performed in hospitals, but you know why they’re not? Because doctors are afraid to perform them. Why? Because of what happens to Dr. Tiller. They’re worried about getting bogus charges thrown at them. Or worse yet, they’re worried about getting shot by some “pro-life” zealot.
Oh, and I don’t hate you. I think that you’re a terribly misguided if inadvertently amusing guy who doesn’t think very highly of women. I don’t hate Kline, but I do hold great contempt for him and what he has done, and I am absolutely thrilled that his constituents decided YET AGAIN to not let him do it anymore.
“Abortion mills,” as you see fit to call them, don’t make the decisions; they operate on the basis of women’s decision.
I don’t hate you. I do hold you in contempt, because you claim to be pro-life despite advocating policies which ruin – and end – the lives of women across the world.
Kline? No, I don’t really hate him either, but seeing as he makes a mission of his life to hurt women, I wouldn’t begrudge him a little pain of his own.
