About 33 days till Canada's election that started a week ago. I don't think people need to register themselves. Being a student, I'm not sure of how most people do it but I'll be bringing in ID and proof of address on Oct 14 and will be fine I think. Is registration quick and simple there?

Same here, Cara. I'm trying out Opera, because I flat refuse to go back to IE as primary browser, and Opera's been recommended as a lean, stable browser.

Back on topic, it's awfully telling that Democrats are trying to make it easier for people to register and vote, while Republicans are trying to thin the voter lists.

It's working fine in Firefox for me, but who knows when it comes to Firefox. I have perpetual problems getting videos to play.

Has anyone else had trouble trying to use the VoteForChange site on Firefox? I tried to pull my reg to make sure my address change had gone through, but it wouldn't work at all. I had to switch to Internet Explorer to do it. (And now I feel all dirty inside.)

Fi -- my husband is Australian and I lived in Sydney for two years. So knowing what I do know about the Australian voting process, to be perfectly honest, if I could take one thing from it, it wouldn't be the mandatory voting thing (though I'm not opposed to it) -- it would be the preferential voting. Hands down. What a dream come true that would be . . .

Living in Australia, the idea that people have to be encouraged to vote scares me. It's so important to vote, in fact, it's illegal not to here. It's a good system.
