I don't think people need to register themselves. Being a student, I'm not sure of how most people do it but I'll be bringing in ID and proof of address on Oct 14 and will be fine I think. I'm trying out Opera, because I flat refuse to go back to IE as primary browser, and Opera's been recommended as a lean, stable browser. Back on topic, it's awfully telling that Democrats are trying to make it easier for people to register and vote, while Republicans are trying to thin the voter lists. Same here, Cara. I tried to pull my reg to make sure my address change had gone through, but it wouldn't work at all. I had to switch to Internet Explorer to do it. (And now I feel all dirty inside.) So knowing what I do know about the Australian voting process, to be perfectly honest, if I could take one thing from it, it wouldn't be the mandatory voting thing (though I'm not opposed to it) -- it would be the preferential voting.
