		<description>It&#039;s this way in healthcare, too. Hospitals are not allowed to turn away people from ERs - and they shouldn&#039;t be. So we treat undocumented and uninsured patients, and we don&#039;t get paid. Not even the pittance we receive for Medicaid patients. The accounting is so complex I have no idea how much this adds to the bills for people who do have insurance, but it&#039;s not trivial.

If we are judged by how we treat the most vulnerable in our society, we are coming up short. Really short. Sinfully, criminally short.</description>
