Thanks for your touching post. It reminds us that we should be reminding ourselves on a more regular basis than on Nov 20th how difficult and dangerous being transgender is for a person. Being trans means breaking rules.... it means stepping on comfort levels and pushing bounderies...for nothing more than to live a regular life as a regular boy or girl. Hate should never enter into it..but it does. Thank you for your touching post.

[...] Right-wing Minneapolis radio host Chris Baker decided to tie together a story about Thomas Beatie — “the pregnant man” — and another transgender person, Lateisha Green (or Teish Cannon; I’ve also seen her name spelled “Latiesha”) who was murdered in a hate crime just a few days ago. I came across this story on Wednesday but have waited until now to run it, because I did not want to publish hate speech like this on, or the day before or the day after, the Transgender Day of Remembrance.
Thank you for this.

An important point that was missed are the current suicide statistics of transgendered men and women. The last time I checked it was hovering just over 30%. That statistic scares me every bit as much - if not more - than the murder rate.
