GallingGall, I read that post by Queen Emily, but haven’t not read all 127 pages of the rule I’m still under the impression that it refers specifically to reproductive health services, and not all medical services. If it does in fact apply to any medical service refused on the grounds on morals or religion, you’re absolutely right, and that’s significantly more terrifying than it already was.

I'd like to point out, as Queen Emily discusses, that this will affect a huge number of people beyond just women seeking reproductive health services - right-wingers can use this to refuse treatment to undocumented immigrants or trans folk. In other words, the EMTs and emergency room doctors who allowed Tyra Hunter to bleed to death rather than treat her because she was trans, will now have the force of law backing them up.

I hope this doesn’t end up like the Global Gag Rule – i.e. the Democratic Administration gets rid of it but the next Republican Administration reinstates it

Signed it very early this morning. These people Bush are rewarding are neither doctors nor pharmacists, they are quacks. I refuse to recognize anyone who deny women birth control a doctor or a pharmacist.

Planned Parenthood has a petition you can sign asking the Obama Administration to overturn the rule once it takes office.

This law is fucking awful. As I understand it, it grants protection from being fired or censured for withholding treatment – which opens the way for anti-choicers to colonise clinics and shut them down from the inside.

Fucking filthy piece of shit law and anyone who enacted it.
