Yoko Series Posted at Imagine Peace
Filed Under Gratuitous Beatles Blogging, fun, personal and self-promotion, random | Posted by Cara |
I’ll be up front and say that there is really no point to this post except to brag and post more photos of Yoko Ono.Yoko apparently found my blog series about her. And even more amazing than that, she liked the posts enough to feel compelled to reach out to me with an email.
That’s right, on Monday, January 19, I got an email from Yoko Ono.
I feel strange about posting the whole email, though I do intend on framing and keeping it in my home. It’s for a few reasons. First, Yoko emailed the commentary and I don’t know if she wants it shared. Secondly, Yoko, as those of you who have read her work know, has a very intimate way of writing. It feels, frankly, somehow too personal to share with everyone. So I won’t.
But I will tell you that it said that for what little I can possibly know of Yoko’s personal experiences, she found it incredibly “close to the truth.” It also included the words “Thank you,” directly relating to what I wrote in the series. And no, I can’t even begin to explain how humbling that feels.
It is, quite simply, the greatest honor that I could have possibly received. I’ve got a lot of compliments about the series, which I’m thrilled about and grateful for. But for Yoko herself to find it worth her time to read and comment on? For her to thank me for it? There are no words for that.
In case there’s anyone out there who doesn’t believe me, I do have a piece of evidence. Yoko also felt compelled to repost the entire series over at her website Imagine Peace. Clearly, she thinks that it does her enough justice to keep it displayed in her archives.
Even if you’ve read the series already, check it out. It’s pretty damn cool.

“Men, their rights, and nothing more; women, their rights, and nothing less.” — Susan B. Anthony

So amazing!
Congrats! I think it was so great of her to tell you, herself, what she thought of it. I commented before on how I loved this series. How wonderful she thinks the same! ;)
Actually? Oh my god.
THAT’S WHAT I’M SAYING!
That is so amazing! Congratulations! :) That series was fantastic, I’m so happy for you that she actually found it and cared enough to let you know what she thought.
Congratulations! We all know how dear to your heart that series was. It must be so incredibly gratifying that something so important to you was appreciated by someone you admire so much.
AlSO, I use the would “so” far too much.
OMG! That’s so amazing! I can’t imagine how awesome you must have felt! I would have been incomprehensible in excitement! Congratulations!
Congratulations, Cara! I’m reading through the series for the first time right now, and I’m wondering if you can recommend a good book on the Beatles for a n00b fan. All I know about the Beatles is what I’ve picked up from tangential documentaries, and I’d love to read more.
Wow! I’m insanely jealous. But I’d say you well and truly deserve it.
Well done! Very happy for you.
That’s definitely not the kind of news you need to post a bragging disclaimer for :)
Congratulations!
Congratulations, Cara! Add me to the chorus of, “Yoko Ono E-MAILED you?? Ohmygoshohmygoshohmygosh!!!!!”
I’ve only read the “Addendum” post so far, but I REALLY enjoyed and learned a lot from it–the honor is *definitely* deserved.
And, yeah, what kelly g. said
Wow! Congratulations! I am not really a Beatles fan (in the sense that I enjoy their music when I hear it, but do not seek it out otherwise), but I was blown away by your series from Part 1, and I am really, really happy to hear that not only has Yoko Ono read it, but that it is reaching such a large audience (My hope is that one day the series might make its way into print).
This calls for celebrating/re-reading the entire series! :-D
That is SO FREAKIN’ AWESOME!
Go you!
*Squueeeeeeeeee!!* I don’t even really know you as more than a name attached to some great writing on the interwebs, but all the same I got all misty with happiness for you when I read the news. That is so super-cool! Neat. Neat neat neat. :)
I’m happy for you Cara
I agree with those that say your series should be published professionally
My question is, now that she’s contacted you, how are you going to stop yourself from emailing her all the time? ;)
As I said to you on twitter, congratulations Cara. You should be really proud that entire series was some of the best work that I have read on a blog period. You deserve all of the acclaim.
That’s beyond awesome. Now I’m going to go re-read the whole series on Imagine Peace. Just for effect! :-)
Congratulations, Cara. That is absolutely fantastic!
And, I’m dying to know what she said about it in detail! Arghh. Yeah, yeah, personal…blah, blah, private…wev.
;)
Congratulations. :)
Congrats Cara, you worked hard on that series and it obviously showed.
Wow, wow, wow. Just – wow. I’m reduced to teenager speak. Oh.My.God.
Congrats!
Congratulations! You deserve the accolades. :)
that rocks SO hard–super super super SUPER congratulations and pats on the back and hugs and kisses–both you and she totally deserve that space of honesty finally being spoken.
I’m very happy for you! :) congrats!
OH WOW SO COOL!!!!!
Holy frak! From a fellow Beatles fan and a fellow blogger I have to say that is an awesome honor! Congratulations.
The essays were totally awesome, and I’m so glad she reached out to you and liked them.
Very good work.
:)
“In case there’s anyone out there who doesn’t believe me, I do have a piece of evidence….”
:)
Yay! That is so awesome.
I was trying to tell friends about this because I think it’s SO COOL and they both said, “Who’s Yoko Ono?” Uhhh, what! Anyway, that is so so awesome.
