It is not done in other countries. There is no clinical value of having a yearly pelvic exam if you are asymptomatic. I have read enough comments by people who work with male doctors and gynecologists to steer away from them. It doesn't matter how professional they appear, when the female patient is not around, the unsavoury comments come thick and fast. They may not all be like that but it is impossible to tell which really is a sleaze behind that professional demeanor. I don’t even know why women in the US go to the gynecologist on a yearly basis for pelvic exams. It is not done in other countries.
