Reflections on Aurora

by Cara October 2, 2007

Two weeks after its scheduled opening date, the Aurora Planned Parenthood is open. Of course, I issue a big thanks and congratulations to all who supported the clinic and helped to make it possible. And I wish the clinic an excellent opening day and many good days to come. It is indeed a victory. And [...]

Breaking: Aurora Planned Parenthood Did Not Break the Law

by Cara October 1, 2007

Via the Planned Parenthood Aurora Blog, the Illinois State Attorney has released a statement that the final investigation as to how PP obtained its building permits has been completed, and the findings are that Planned Parenthood complied with the law. As anyone with half a brain, it seems, knew all along. The matter is still [...]

Aurora Antis Get Crazier and Crazier

by Cara September 28, 2007

You know, the thing about this Aurora Planned Parenthood clinic debacle is that it just keeps getting more and more absurd. First off this week was the “silver bullet” incident. The anti-choice foes who are desperate to bring the clinic down dug through zoning rules and announced at the tops of their voices that Planned [...]

Aurora Rally for Planned Parenthood

by Cara September 27, 2007

By all accounts, the rally in Aurora went very well on Tuesday. Officials say that at the height of the protest, 250-300 pro-choice supporters attended and outnumbered the opposition 2 to 1. Great work! After the jump, there are a whole bunch of pictures courtesy of JenLovesPonies, who attended the rally, with commentary! The Planned [...]

Pro-Choice Rally in Aurora TOMORROW

by Cara September 24, 2007

It has been brought to my attention in a comment from Linda that there will be a Pro-Choice Rally in Aurora to support the new Planned Parenthood clinic on Tuesday, September 25, 5PM at Aurora City Hall. You can find more details at the Planned Parenthood Aurora blog (which is now on my blog roll), [...]

Aurora On My Mind

by Cara September 20, 2007

I really, really wish that I had some good news to share about the Aurora Planned Parenthood case. But I don’t. Today, a judge denied PP’s request for a preliminary injunction that would allow them to open their doors while the “investigation” against them is underway. After hearing two hours of arguments in a packed [...]

Aurora Update

by Cara September 18, 2007

Sadly, the Aurora Planned Parenthood clinic was not allowed to open today, it’s scheduled opening date. Apparently, thirteen women had appointments at the clinic for today. And yes, the antis are thrilled that they have managed to successfully deny these women medical care. I’d give ‘em a big ol’ pat on the back, but I [...]

Positive Pro-Choice News

by Cara September 12, 2007

The New Jersey Supreme Court has reversed a previous ruling requiring that doctors tell women prior to an abortion that their fetus is an “existing human being.” The 5-0 Supreme Court ruling reversed a unanimous ruling by a three-judge appeals panel. Abortion cases pending in Illinois and South Dakota have raised the same issue. “On [...]

More Bad News Out of Aurora

by Cara September 7, 2007

The Aurora Planned Parenthood clinic that has received so much publicity, thanks to anti-choice fanatics, may not open on time. The clinic was scheduled to be open on the 18th, but due to the “investigation” as to how they received their permit, it may be stalled. You see, the “investigation” will probably not be complete [...]

What happens in Aurora, happens to me

by Cara September 5, 2007

Remember the story about the Aurora, IL Planned Parenthood clinic? The one that is scheduled to open on the 18th, and has been descended upon by over a thousand anti-choice activists, who are accusing Planned Parenthood of fraud while trying to gain the right to protest outside of clinic workers’ homes? I don’t know about [...]
