HRC: And One Other Thing

by Cara July 24, 2008

I’ll be entirely honest: when I saw Hillary Clinton, one of the first things I thought after “wow, that’s Hillary Clinton” was “wow, she’s so pretty.” Hillary has been attacked for her appearance an awful lot throughout her career. She’s been called ugly, “too” masculine, fat and so on. Allow me to be clear: even [...]

I Met Hillary Clinton

by Cara July 23, 2008

And no, I do not lie in the titles of my posts: Look, that’s me (secondish row back, second from left, white shirt, brown hair)!!! With Hillary Clinton!!! When we went to lobby day at the Hill, I was more or less expecting the same thing I’ve seen when lobbying in Albany.  State legislators don’t [...]

Misogyny vs. Sexism, Round 2

by Cara June 10, 2008

I found this snippet from the NYT “On Language” column to be somewhat confounding. See what you think: Senator Hillary Clinton used a word recently that has been changing its meaning. In charging that she has been treated more harshly in the media because of her gender than Senator Barack Obama has been treated because [...]

Dear Hillary Clinton (Part 2)

by Cara June 7, 2008

Thank you. This is the woman I was voting for when I pulled the lever for Hillary Clinton as Senator. This isn’t her “stepping aside for a man.” It’s her showing great strength and returning to the principles she espoused at the beginning of this race. I’m sure that this was very painful for her. [...]

by Cara May 14, 2008

I just got this press release in my inbox. The National Women’s Political Caucus is disappointed to learn of NARAL Pro-Choice America’s endorsement of Senator Obama today. The Caucus knows Hillary Clinton to be a clear leader and a consistent champion of the issues that NARAL and NWPC have in common. We believe that this [...]

Is it August yet?

by Cara April 22, 2008

The Pennsylvania Democratic primary is today. I could be slightly more enthused. In case you haven’t noticed, I’ve more or less dropped out of campaign coverage. The answer is simple: things have gotten ugly. And with apologies to Clinton supporters, I don’t understand why she is still in it (yeah, I know: “to win it”).

The Oppression Olympics Continue

by Cara March 24, 2008

UPDATE: The Washington Post happens to have an interesting article today on this very subject. It’s actually more intelligent than you might expect, though be forewarned that some of the quotes are really obnoxious and precisely what I rail against here. — I can’t say that Geraldine Ferraro should have quit while she was ahead, [...]

Offensive Remark of the Week: Geraldine Ferraro Swears She Isn’t Racist Edition

by Cara March 12, 2008

I’m pissed off about the Spitzer thing, if you haven’t noticed. Happy that he resigned, but still really pissed. And so right about now, my patience for Democratic politicians who are going to act like absolute fucking morons is virtually non-existent. Sorry about that, Geraldine Ferraro and those hellbent on defending her for absolutely no [...]
